Figueroa joined OC Rhythm as our 17U coach, this is Karinas 4th year coaching with OCR.

Figueroa graduated from Rosary High School in 2005. Throughout her high school career, she earned such honors as first team All-County, second-team All-CIF, CIF 3A Player of the Year and two-time Serra League MVP.

She has continued her success while playing for Division I Long Beach State. During her freshman year with the 49’ers, Figueroa earned Big West Honorable Mention and a spot on the Big West All-Freshman Team. During her sophomore year, Figueroa was named Second Team All-Big West.

We are very excited to have Coach Amanda Sims join OCR.  She has a passion and dedication for children and the game of Basketball that is hard to miss.  Owner Carlos Ballestero has known her in the world of Basektball since she was in 5th grade.  He states, “I remember hearing about the Sims sisters even before meeting Amanda.  I have had the pleasure of knowing her all these years and am very pleased to have her on our Staff.”

Coach Sims began coaching at Mater Dei High School as a Varsity Assistant Coach.  She is a former player of USA Coach of the Year, Kevin Kiernan at Troy High School in Fullerton.   While at Troy, Sims was a four year varsity player, captain her senior year, ending her career at Troy with two CIF chamopionships, two state titles and an undefeated record in league.

Amanda was league MVP, first team all county and received all CIF and all state honors.  Following high school, she went on to play at Texas Christian University and finished her degree and athletic career at Azusa Pacific University.

Coach Amanda Sims

Coach Jimmy Valverde has been coaching girls basketball for over 17 years.  He also coached baseball for 32 years.  He adds passion and dedication.  Coach Jimmy states, “I’m so proud to be a part of the OCR Rhythm family.  The girls are all working hard to be the best teams they can be, and they are good teammates.”

He coached at Katella High for 7 years.  There he won 2 league Champoinships and 2nd place finish in the Empire & Orange league.  His record was 94-43.  He was coach of the year 2011 and 2012. Currently he is a Varsity coach at Esperanza High School.

Jimmy and girlfriend, Pilar Rodriguez and daughter Stephanie, who is the joy of his life. who is always supportive of his coaching.  He also has a grown   OCR is glad to have him a part of our family.
